Landing here instead of IST has advantages (cheaper flights, smaller terminal, shorter immigration queues), but also one logistical detail to plan: the hotel is usually on the other side of the Bosphorus. A private transfer booked in advance solves that logistics in one stroke: the driver waits at the arrivals terminal with a sign bearing your name, helps with luggage, picks in real time between the 15 July Bridge or the Eurasia Tunnel based on traffic, and drops you at the hotel door without taxi negotiations or bus decoding. Fixed per-vehicle rate from 45 USD, not per person, with WhatsApp confirmation the day before your flight. ## Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW): Gateway to Asian Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen opened in 2001 in the Pendik district on Istanbul's Asian side, as the city's second commercial airport. It takes its name from the first female Turkish combat pilot, adoptive daughter of Atatürk. It is the main hub of Pegasus Airlines and AnadoluJet, the two Turkish low-cost carriers with direct connections to Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Paris, London, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam and many other European capitals. It has an international and a domestic terminal, both with passenger exit on the same level, making it easier to meet the driver. It is about fifty kilometers from Sultanahmet and forty-two from Taksim, distances covered in sixty to ninety minutes depending on traffic and time of day. The M4 metro connects the airport with Kadıköy and then the metropolitan network, but the most comfortable option with luggage remains the private car. ## Distance and Real Time from SAW to Sultanahmet or Taksim The actual distance from SAW to Istanbul's main accommodation neighborhoods varies between forty-two and fifty-two kilometers depending on hotel and chosen route. Transfer time depends on traffic: in off-peak hours (early morning, midday, weekend morning) it's sixty minutes. In rush hour (morning eight to ten and evening four to seven PM) it can rise to one hundred twenty minutes due to Bosphorus access congestion. The driver picks the optimal route in real time: the 15 July Bridge (former Boğaziçi, the first Bosphorus bridge) or the Eurasia Tunnel (under the strait, no surface traffic). The least traffic window is between five and eight AM and Sunday mornings. The most traffic window, weekdays between four and seven PM. ## The Fleet: Private Sedan or Minivan by Group Size Two options depending on group size and luggage. The private sedan is a Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Superb or equivalent, with capacity for four passengers and two large suitcases plus hand luggage. Rate forty-five dollars per ride (not per person). The private minivan is a Mercedes Vito, Volkswagen Caravelle or equivalent, with capacity for seven passengers and up to seven large suitcases. Rate sixty-five dollars per ride. For larger groups (eight people or more) we offer minibus with custom quote, contact at booking. All vehicles have air conditioning, leather or premium fabric seats, bottled water included, and a sound system if you want to connect your own music via Bluetooth. ## How We Find You at the Arrivals Terminal The driver monitors your flight in real time from takeoff at origin. When you land at SAW, the driver arrives at the arrivals terminal with a name sign printed, at the exit corresponding to international or domestic flights as applicable. The exact meeting point is confirmed via WhatsApp the day before the flight (usually the main exit area, just after passing customs and claiming luggage). The driver waits as long as needed at no extra cost if your flight is delayed. If you lose your luggage or need more time, simply notify via WhatsApp and rearrange the wait. The driver's mobile phone is shared with you the day before. ## The Route: 15 July Bridge or Eurasia Tunnel The two possible routes from SAW to central Istanbul (Sultanahmet, Taksim, Galata, Beşiktaş) are the 15 July Martyrs Bridge (Boğaziçi Köprüsü, the first Bosphorus bridge, opened in 1973) and the Eurasia Tunnel (Avrasya Tüneli, opened in 2016, under the Bosphorus strait). The driver picks in real time based on the GPS traffic. The 15 July Bridge has spectacular Bosphorus views during the crossing, but it tends to be the more congested route in rush hour. The Eurasia Tunnel is faster in rush hour but has a slightly higher toll. Both options are covered by the rate: the driver picks the best at each moment at no extra cost. If your hotel is on the Asian side (Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Moda), the ride doesn't cross the Bosphorus and is even faster (forty to sixty minutes). ## Children's Seats, Extra Luggage and Special Needs We have children's seats and booster seats at no additional cost. Car seats are for babies from zero to two years and boosters for children four to twelve. Specify at booking with the child's approximate weight. If you travel with extra luggage (skis, musical instruments, wheelchairs, professional photography gear, etc.), we recommend choosing the minivan directly even with fewer passengers, as it has space for bulky luggage. Non-folding wheelchairs require the minivan; folding ones fit in the sedan trunk. If you need technical stops during the ride (pharmacy, supermarket, currency exchange office), these are made at no additional cost as long as they don't deviate too much from the main route. ## SAW Transfer Price (Sedan, Minivan, Round-Trip) Fixed per-vehicle rate in US dollars, not per person. Sedan: forty-five dollars per ride (one-way), for one to four passengers. Minivan: sixty-five dollars per ride (one-way), for five to seven passengers. If you book round-trip on the same day or for separate dates, an approximately fifteen percent discount applies on the total: sedan round-trip seventy-five dollars, minivan round-trip one hundred ten dollars. The rate includes fuel, bridge or tunnel tolls depending on route, bottled water, passenger insurance and driver waiting time if your flight is delayed. It does not include optional driver tips or long technical stops (more than fifteen minutes each). Payment by cash (euro, dollar or Turkish lira at the day's rate), credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard), or prior bank transfer before the transfer. ## What Is Included and What Is Not Included in the rate: the private vehicle throughout the ride (sedan or minivan as chosen), the professional driver with Turkish passenger transport license, fuel, 15 July Bridge or Eurasia Tunnel tolls depending on the chosen route, arrivals terminal pickup with a name sign, bottled water during the ride, passenger insurance, flight delay coverage at no extra cost and prior WhatsApp coordination with exact time and meeting point. Not included: the arrival flight (managed separately by the client), food and drinks beyond bottled water, personal expenses during the ride, optional driver tips (not mandatory but welcome if the experience was good), return transfer to the airport (booked separately or as round-trip with discount) and the extra luggage trolley inside the airport (free until terminal exit). ## Booking with Alfombra Voladora Travel (TÜRSAB A-9759) Istanbul Private Tours is the private tour and service brand of Alfombra Voladora Travel, a Turkish travel agency officially registered with TÜRSAB under license A-9759.
