Serving as the centre of the Ottoman state between 1326 and 1365 when it was referred to as “Hüdavendigar”, Bursa has evolved into Turkey’s fourth-largest city and one of its most vibrant centres. It has more recently been dubbed “Yeşil Bursa” (meaning “Green Bursa”) because of its beautiful parks and gardens, as well as the forests which sprawl beyond the city centre. Led by an expert local guide, you will tour some of Bursa’s most important landmarks, including the Green Tomb and the Green Mosque, and have the opportunity to sample some of its most iconic dishes. Then ride a cable car up to the top of its spectacular Uludağ, or “Sublime Mountain”, to explore this natural wonderland, which is a popular skiing and hiking destination for local Turks.

You will be picked up from your hotel in Istanbul and travel south towards Bursa by private bus, including a ferry journey across the Sea of Marmaris. On arrival in Bursa, you will have lunch at a local Turkish restaurant where you can sample one of the dishes Bursa is recognised for, İskender kebap. After lunch, join your local guide on a tour of this beautiful city to discover its charms, including a visit to the Green Tomb, the monument of the fifth Ottoman Sultan, Mehmed I, as well as the Green Mosque. After exploring these fascinating sights, you will travel by cable car to Uludağ, which means “Sublime Mountain” in Turkish. At an elevation of 2543 metres, Uludağ is a popular ski destination for local Turks in winter, as well as being home to a beautiful national park that is ideal for trekking.
