2 Days Cappadocia Tour From Istanbul Itinerary
Day 1: Full day South Cappadocia Tour
You will be picked up from your hotel in Istanbul and transferred to the airport for your flight to either Kayseri or Nevsehirl. On arrival, you will begin a tour of the southern region of Cappadocia, starting at Derinkuyu’s Underground City where early Christian refugees once sought protection. From Derinkuyu, continue to the magnificent Rose Valley and explore its remarkable rock-cut churches as you hike 4km through this beautiful landscape. Return towards Goreme, stopping at the Selime Monastery and the stunning Pigeon Valley en route, before arriving at your cave hotel for the night.
Day 2: Full day North Cappadocia Tour
On the second day of your Cappadocia tour, you will explore its northern region, with your guide and driver picking you up from your hotel after breakfast. The first stop is Goreme‘s Open Air Museum, where you will witness the living art of Christian and Byzantine antiquity in its magnificent cave churches. Continue to Cavusin, an ancient Greek village carved into the rocks which once housed Christian Orthodox families. After lunch at a traditional Turkish restaurant in Avanos, you will have time to explore this town which has served as a centre of terracotta art since 2000 BC. In the afternoon you will visit Pasabagi, or ‘Monk’s Valley’, to see its impressive mushroom-shaped pinnacles, then continue to Devrent, or ‘Imagination Valley,’ to view its unusual fairy chimneys. The final destination of the day is the rock castle of Uchisar where you can climb through its maze-like tunnels to the peak, which offers a fantastic panoramic view over the surrounding landscape. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Istanbul, where you will be met on arrival and driven to your hotel of choice.
